Hooking up your laptop to TV/LCD is not a tough job and doesn’t require any special device. Thanks to media connectivity technology that it has produces a different type of compatible cables & ports which easily link your devices and let video signal to flow through it.
You just need to look for a suitable cable for your TV or Laptop port and follow the steps mentioned below to stream videos in large TV screen.
Check video port of your Laptop and TV:
The output and input port of your laptop and TV are of several type depending solely on your Laptop model and whether you have standard definition or high definition TV sets.
The different type of port available are-
1.VGA port: it’s a rectangular port with 15 pins in rows of 5. It offers better picture quality for old monitor.

3.Composite video port: Usually a circular jack in color most likely in yellow color.
4.DVI port: It’s a rectangular port with 24 pins in 3 rows of 8. Newer HDTV’s and laptop computers have this port.
5.HDMI port: Its high definition multimedia port like USB port but it’s longer and thinner. It provide better high definition picture quality and available in HD TV’s.
If your laptops output port and TV or LCD input port are different, use adapter cable.
Adapters convert DVI to HDMI or VGA to composite video.
Connect the audio RCA cable if needed:
After connecting video cable you need another cable to transmit sound as above cables only transmit the video part. You need a 3.5 mm RCA cable to connect the audio line from laptop to your TV. The red and black socket goes into the respective port of your TV while black connector goes into the headphone jack of your computer.
Connecting process:
1.Shut down your laptop and turn off TV.
2.Now connect the video cable to your laptop and TV’s video port.
3.Turn ON laptop and TV.
4.Open the display setting in on your windows computer and activate output to TV screen. You can also use it as dual monitor.
5.Now switch your TV to ‘external inputs’ from menu. Change default ‘video 1’ to different selection may be “HDMI 1” or “video 2”.
6.Adjust the screen resolution if necessary. Try to match the desired aspect ratio.
Now you have all done with it. Play video on your laptop and enjoy them on large screen of your television.
Top Tips:
>>If you are not getting clear video then disconnect your laptop temporarily and adjust resolution before reconnecting it.
>>You get to see some HD parts on your TV only not in your laptop. This is normal, for viewing it in laptop you have to disconnect your TV.
